As the school year comes to an end, the Youth Summer Recreational Program (YSRP) is kicking the season off with "Nature Play."

Claudia Raaen operates the program through the Southern Cortes Community Association (SCCA). There are usually morning and afternoon sessions that run Monday-Thursday beginning July 4. Each program is designed for a specific age range, and the whole series has offerings for youth ranging between age three and up. One option that stands out for Raaen is "Fairy World."

"We go to Mansons Lagoon and we make fairy houses in the arbutus forest and maple grove," Raaen says, describing the program.

Another program that tends to fill up quick is "Rec Games." Raaen recommends registering as soon as you can, since waiting lists do happen for some popular programs.

The cost for YSRP varies, but it averages $10-$15 per day per student. There are also bursaries available upon request for anyone that needs financial assistance to afford the programs. This year, there is online registration at the Mansons Hall website.
