The Yamaska Valley Optimist Club (YVOC) is hosting a virtual event in celebration of International Women’s Day this upcoming Saturday.

The YVOC is a “group of women whose main purpose and mission is to help the youth and children of the region of Brome Missisquoi,” explained Lucy Davis, YVOC member.

To celebrate all the women in the community, the YVOC is also hosting a virtual health and fitness fair. It will be a fundraiser to raise money for the events to help the children in the upcoming year. The health and fitness fair will be hosted via Zoom.

“You can either have a physical afternoon or an afternoon where your sitting down in a chair and you’re listening to speakers on different topics,” shared Davis.

All events will be live. There is a wide variety of events from Zumba and yoga, to how to make curry, to a talk about injury prevention: it is an event with something for everyone.

As part of the event, there will be a special virtual room where three individuals who have made significant contributions to the community will be honored for their work.

“I think it is going to be a fun event,” said Davis.
