Western Quebec School Board (WQSB) Director General Mike Dubeau spoke with CHIP 101.9 this week about the return to school for those in the region’s English-speaking establishments. He said that given last year’s experience, he and his staff were better prepared to return to classrooms this fall.
He said that air quality was one of the aspects that the board looked into, testing all rooms in their facilities and in some cases bringing in air exchanger units where necessary.
He also spoke about the amount of students who were learning from home this year compared to last. In 2020/21, there were over 300 exempted students studying online and the WQSB ran their own online academy. This school year, the number of students was roughly 130, and the online learning is being facilitated through a partnership with other English school boards across the province.
