For sixteen years, Star Café has occupied various buildings in and around town. Now the restaurant in the heart of Knowlton has a new owner.
The quaint restaurant is popular with the locals for many reasons, including that owner Richard Pilon was always there. He would sit at a table in the back of the establishment doing work while watching clients enjoy the atmosphere he created.
Many community members were surprised to hear the announcement this week that Pilon sold the Star Café. The new owner and operator is Patrick Plouffe, Originally from Montreal, Plouffe is known from his roles as chef at both Les Sapins and the Knowlton Golf Course.
“I would like to thank both the clients and the employees for continuing to come to the Star Café. It will always be the restaurant of the village” stated Pilon.
The transaction has been completed and the new owner has moved in, but the reason for the sale remains unknown. The community will have to wait and see if the new owner changes the menu or keeps everything just as it is.
It is known as the spot in town to grab breakfast or a warm soup and sandwich for lunch.
“Nothing can beat a classic Sunday breakfast at the Star Café” said Nicholas Allan, a patron of the local establishment.
“It was and probably still will be the go to place. You can easily walk there, and it is affordable,” he added. “I liked to go and enjoy the star sandwich with the poutine.”
