With the pandemic cancelling events and closing venues, artists have been met with a unique set of challenges.
Jennifer Trithardt-Tufts, executive director of the Abbotsford Arts Council, spoke to CIVL about what the organization has been doing to help both pre-pandemic and now.
Trithardt-Tufts says that Jam in Jubilee is a good example of how the Abbotsford Art Council supports local artists. With the event, they bring in a big headline band and when people come to see them, they are exposed to local artists as well on the line-up.
Trithardt-Tufts says that the arts council is introducing a mentoring program. The program allows artists that were originally from the Fraser Valley that have moved to other parts of the province to reconnect with current local artists and mentor them.
