On International Women’s Day, the Voix du PONTIAC- PONTIAC Voice Facebook group published a press release in which it is mentioned that it is heart wrenching that the group must still defend the right to proper health for women in the region.
"Sadly, our Pontiac Women still have to leave the region to give birth to their children. The absence of an obstetrics department deprives them of a birth in a familiar environment, offering the emotional support of their family, the security of being close to the hospital and the familiarity of the team following the pregnancy. It is nevertheless incredible that in the 21st century, we are still defending a local service that is essential for the physical and mental well-being of women,"argues the Voix du PONTIAC-PONTIAC Voice Facebook group.
“We would like to salute the frontline staff, who are mostly women, for the extraordinary work they have done during this pandemic. Please know that our actions to bring back the obstetrics service to the Pontiac Community Hospital will resume as soon as the pandemic is under control,”concludes the Voix du PONTIAC-PONTIAC Voice Facebook group.
