The legacy of Terry Fox lives on, says family

With the annual Terry Fox run approaching, his family reflected on his legacy and how it continues to inspire generations of Canadians.

Fred Fox, a representative of the Terry Fox Foundation spoke with CIVL about the impact his brother Terry has had on Canadians.

"We marked the 41st anniversary [of his death]...our family is proud to know that Terry Fox has impacted so many lives over the years," Fred says.

Terry Fox was a Canadian athlete and humanitarian; he passed away in 1981 while he was completing a cross-country run to raise funds for cancer research. His family has continued his work through the Terry Fox Foundation since 1981, raising funds, organizing events and promoting cancer awareness.

"I get a chance to travel [with] my mom and dad, travel my brother Darryl, and my sister Judy...and have met so many people that have been inspired by Terry," Fred added, speaking about the foundation's work.
