As COVID-19 case numbers continue to rise, City of Abbotsford Mayor Henry Braun said he is concerned and open to added pandemic restrictions. While he was initially “quite pleased” with the community’s response, Braun said locals have to be “much more vigilant” because they are starting to let their guard down.

The Fraser Health Authority region is going through greater restrictions for a two-week period. Braun told CIVL that he is not opposed to COVID-19 penalties, such as fines for failure to comply with regulations, set by provincial health officials.

The mayor appealed to the residents of Abbotsford to comply with the orders from the Provincial Health Authority in order to protect the health and safety of one another.
