It was a couple days late for Thanksgiving but over 100 chickens were delivered to Six Nations courtesy of a Halton-based organization.

Grandmother’s Voice, which originated in Oakville, Ontario, is "a body of unified Indigenous people creating a safe, secure community that advances education, knowledge, understanding of Indigenous cultures and practices," and is now located at Country Heritage Park, in Milton, Ontario.

Jody Harbour is one of the founders and organizers behind Grandmother’s Voice and delivered the frozen chickens to several locations in the community today, including all five longhouses. This will be the third time they have delivered chickens to Six Nations, courtesy of their landlord at Country Heritage Park, who also raises the chickens.

Grandmother’s Voice has several events schedule in the coming weeks including drum making on Oct. 30. To find out more you can visit their website at grandmothersvoice.com
