Gerald Dagg said that improving snow removal and maintaining the roads were at the top of his priority list if he is elected mayor of Clarendon on Nov. 7.
Dagg ran for the top seat in 2017, receiving just over 40 per cent of the vote but, ultimately, losing to outgoing Mayor John Armstrong.
He has worked in forestry and as a farmer, in addition to being mayor of Rapides des Joachims for eight years. He was born and raised in the Clarendon and has resided there for the past 10 years. He said that what he enjoys about the municipality the most was the natural environment and the people.
He said that improving snow removal throughout the municipality was at the top of his agenda when he ran four years ago, and remains a priority, along with road maintenance. He said that the previous council has had their challenges, from the ongoing pandemic to the flooding in 2019 that affected waterfront communities like Sand Bay.
Dagg said that COVID-19 had wreaked havoc on local service clubs and businesses, and if elected he would see about helping them recover.
