Alain Gagnon is hoping that he can build on some of the projects that council has undertaken over the past eight years if he is re-elected on November 7 to a third term. Gagnon was elected by acclamation in 2017.

A former police officer, Gagnon said that he got his start in politics in 2013 when he was approached by fellow residents to run for mayor. He got in and has been there ever since.

A resident of the municipality since 1983, Gagnon has helped out with community organizations like the RA and helped put on the local event Bryson Fest for several years. He said that he was running again this year because there were some files that he would like to see through over the next four years, from repairs to the town’s water filtration system to ongoing upgrades to the street lights.

He said that if he’s re-elected, he would continue on with the projects he mentioned earlier, as well as other improvements around town, like to the local beach.
