Ryerson University announced that it will require all individuals entering campus to show proof of vaccination status in order to enter campus this school year.
Individuals who do not declare their status will be asked to take a COVID-19 test.
Ryerson's independent newspaper, The Eyeopener, was the first to report.

In a statement on Ryerson's website, President and Vice-Chancellor Mohamed Lachemi announced that the proof of vaccination status will be required starting on Sept. 7.
"For the upcoming fall term, effective September 7, 2021, Ryerson University will require all students, faculty, staff, contractors and visitors coming to campus to attest to their COVID-19 vaccination status. Those who have not been fully vaccinated or do not want to disclose their vaccination status will be required to be tested in order to come to campus," Lachemi wrote in his statement on Friday.
The decision comes days after several of Ontario's other post-secondary institutions announced they will require individuals to show their vaccination statuses. This includes the University of Toronto, York University, Queen's University and the University of Guelph.
On Aug. 11, Ryerson announced that all student-athletes must be fully vaccinated by September 16 to "be medically cleared for competition," according to a statement from Ryerson Athletics executive director Louise Corwin on Wednesday.
"The science is clear about the transmission of COVID-19. Our student-athletes engage in training and competition that place them in close proximity with each other and therefore they are at higher risk, hence we are requiring them to be double vaccinated. Doing so protects their health and well-being, and that of the broader Ryerson community," Corwin said in the statement.
