This fall, the RCMP has started virtual RCMPTalks sessions on the latest online trends, potential risks and proactive strategies to keep children safe, a national initiative.

These talks were designed by Erica Allen of National Youth Services who says they held a session earlier this month and had positive feedback.

Sgt. Kent Luther, with the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre, says parents are encouraged to be involved with what they’re kids are doing online. He says kids need to know they can always go to a trusted adult to talk about things, or they can also go to cybertip.ca to report incidents. He says if something feels off, it’s likely suspicious.

The next RCMPTalks session will be about Bullying on Nov. 21. For more information on RCMPTalks, including how to register, visit the website.
