The Quadra Legion honored its 85th anniversary this weekend with a music trivia night on Saturday and there's more events on the way.

The Legion Branch #154 is a non-profit that funds itself through bar sales and offers community programming. The Royal Canadian Legion is a national organization founded by veterans to support veterans, its members, and their communities. The local events center is located along W Road in Heriot Bay, directly next to the BC Ferries vehicle queue for Cortes Island.

Bartender Jenna White spoke about ongoing opportunities at the Legion that may interest the Cortes crowd, especially.

“Our meat draw starts every Saturday at 5 p.m…there's four draws: 5, 5:30, 6 and 6:30. So that's a cool little activity that someone could do before the 6:45 ferry over to Cortes.”

The Legion will be hosting several notable upcoming events including a DJ night on Jan. 27 featuring Qdubz, Bader and Monopoly. On Jan. 28, a band from Victoria called "Wooler" will be performing, with Gabriola Island-based band "Rockson Road" opening the night. White describes Wooler as, “cool weaving of string and woodwind instruments into their rock music.”

The Quadra Legion bar and kitchen are open Wednesday - Sunday at 3 p.m. To find out about upcoming programming, visit the Quadra Legion Facebook page.
