Northwest communities have seen a lot of rain over the past two months in Northwest BC, and for the next few days, that rain will continue.
This is also an exceptional year for high than normal snow packs, and although most of that has now melted into lakes and river throughout the region, the continued rain may be too much for river banks to hold.
Flooding in New and Old Remo near Terrace last week caused some people to leave their homes. Now the Nachako River is under flood watch and the Skeena and Bulkley Rivers are under a high stream flow advisory.
Jonathan Boyed, a hydrologist with the River Forecast Centre of BC says there are potential flood risks in the region and communities will have to be prepared in the coming days and weeks as the rain continues to pour down.
