A local Biologist says there is a lack of protection for endangered species. Aleesha Switzer, a biologist and social scientist from the Fraser Valley Conservancy spoke with CIVL on why she thinks the government needs to protect endangered species. Switzer says, one of the biggest issues that we face for protection to endangered species is a lack of laws that protect species at risk at the provincial level. She says that they were promised protection for species at risk before the NDP came into office, but that promise has not been delivered. Switzer says, due to a lack of protection for endangered species in the provincial level, it hinders their ability to make effective changes anywhere in the province.
