The Warden of the MRC Pontiac, accompanied by the mayor of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Winston Sunstrum, paid tribute yesterday (February 24) to Sensei Tim Sullivan of the Chapeau Karate Club. Sensei Tim Sullivan was awarded the Lise Waters - Tribute to the builder posthumously at the Outaouais Sports Excellence Gala and members of his family received the trophy which highlights his contribution to his community.
“He has influenced several children over several generations by instilling healthy lifestyles in them, it is a great contribution to our community” underlined the mayor of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Winston Sunstrum.
Gathered in St. Joseph’s Hall, those on site emphasized the importance of the work of Sensei Tim Sullivan. Present on site, Paul McGuire, who continued the work of Tim Sullivan, explained that the Chapeau Karate Club still operates but through the Zoom platform.
“It’s not ideal, we can’t wait to get together in person again, but we have a lot of fun getting together virtually,” said Paul McGuire.
Everything is currently ready at the St. Joseph Hall to welcome back the members of the Chapeau Karate Club. Sensei Tim Sullivan was the founder of the Chapeau Karate Club, he passed away on February 9, 2020.
