Prince Edward County council approved military exercises that will be conducted on the Millennium Trail in August at a meeting June 21.

Officials from the Canadian Army Advanced Warfare Centre at CFB Trenton have requested the use of a 20 km western section of the Millennium Trail, with an associated noise by-law exception for training exercises being conducted on Aug.9 from 12:01 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The training exercises will involve approximately 50 Pathfinder trainees with unloaded rifles, under escort by two all-terrain vehicles. It is not expected that the training exercises will generate much noise and nuisance, and the Canadian Forces have confirmed that it has liability insurance in place for the training exercises.
