Over the Canada Day weekend, the Municipality of Alleyn-et-Cawood inaugurated their new splash pad at Henry Heeney Memorial Park in downtown Danford Lake.

Director General Isabelle Cardinal said that the project had been in the works since late 2021, and was made possible through grant funding from MRC Pontiac. The municipality spent some of their gas tax funding to make up the rest of the bill. She said the new attraction was popular over the weekend with area children, and added that it would be a hit with the municipality's summer camp as well.

The overall cost of the project is $130,000, which will also includes adding washrooms and a sitting area. Cardinal explained that they were also planning on expanding the park further over the coming years. Alleyn-et-Cawood is one of the smaller municipalities in MRC Pontiac with around 200 year-round residents, however the population booms to several times that in the summer months with the addition of cottagers.
