New short-term accommodations regime sees high revenues from fines

Prince Edward County staff reported last week that $84,000 in revenue came from fines issued as a result of the new Short-Term Accommodation (STA) licence regime and its new compliance software.

Currently, there are 858 licensed STAs in Prince Edward County, with 112 fines issued in 2022. So far in 2023, there have been 15 fines issued, totaling $46,000.

The update was provided during 2023 operating budget deliberations for Prince Edward County.
