The Nelson Brewing Company recently won two awards for their Loki Lager at the 2023 Canada Beer Cup.

They won bronze in Best in Show Overall and gold in Best International Lager. Over 12,00 beers and 250 breweries competed for Best in Show.

According to their website, the Canada beer Cup “is a national competition celebrating independently owned and operated breweries across Canada. It showcases quality and innovation in craft beer from coast to coast to coast.”

Matt Walker, co-owner of the Nelson Brewing Company, says, “it was cool to win the gold for sure but for us we are even more excited to win bronze for the best overall.”

Walker also mentioned that winning with a lager means a lot because of how difficult they are to make.

This year’s competition was held in Niagara Falls on Oct. 25.
