One city councillor is worried about the impact that cannabis stores can have on the youth of Mission.

Mission city councillor Ken Herar said he's opposed to the opening of any more cannabis retailers in the city. Currently, Mission has one cannabis store and Herar said that council should have studied how the community reacted to that store before considering opening more. According to the city councillor, marijuana is a gateway drug and society does not know the repercussions of marijuana in the human body. He says that parents do not want their kids anywhere near marijuana and that is one of the reasons he opposed opening more stores: for the sake of youth safety.
