Mission City Coun. Ken Herar has a distinct vision for the district’s downtown and opinions on its modernization.

According to Herar, the biggest obstacle in revitalizing downtown Mission is to take large logging trucks off Main Street. By bringing a bypass, trucks can get from Main Street and on to the Lougheed Highway. Herar said the people of Mission have great expectations from the new MLA Pam Alexis. as she used to be the mayor of Mission and, because of that, she knows the importance of fixing the downtown for the people of Mission. Herar says the downtown was thriving in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
