In just four days BC votes head to the polls to elect mayors and city councils across the province. In the Smithers the last few days of the campaign has seen both mayoral candidates jockeying for every last vote.
The all candidates debate last week saw Murray Hawse calling out Mayor Gladys Atrill on her record as mayor and that the community needs to attach more business or it will die. Despite the community steady growing for the past three decades.
Atrill focused on the accomplishments throughout her term as mayor and a councillor before that. As well as discussing the Smithers 2030 plan and what infrastructure projects were already under way when the election was called.
Whichever candidate wins on October 15th, will not only have to move forward with a new and mostly green council, but repair divisions within the community.
