A 26-year-old Madelinot man, Yan Thorne, was arrested Sunday at his home in Fatima for assaulting and injuring another adult with a weapon following an altercation.

Thorne faces at least three separate charges, according to Sûreté du Québec (SQ) Spokesperson Sgt. Claude Doiron. The SQ also confirmed that the suspect also made at least one threat to cause death or bodily harm to the victim.

Doiron added that the weapon used in the assault will not publicly identified at this time.

Sgt. Claude Doiron (speaking in French):

Thorne first appeared at the Havre-Aubert Courthouse on Monday before being transferred to Percé for a second appearance regarding his release.

The SQ confirmed that Thorne was well-known to police. The suspect's docket shows that he pleaded guilty to similar charges of assault with a deadly weapon last September, in addition to mischief, which was filed in January.
