Founded in 2019 in Alberta by John Su and partner Adrian Beaverbones, Indigenous Innovations opened in Vancouver in the spring of 2021 with the goal of changing how First Nations peoples experience the healthcare system.

Operating from the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver and led by Su, the organisation provides healthcare services to its clients through partnerships with medical practitioners. Su describes Indigenous Innovations as a micro medical system based on trust, social responsibility and empathy.

"We specialize in helping First Nations with healthcare. We basically help them navigate the healthcare system, finding doctors, finding dentists, just basically anything in healthcare related to feet, teeth, eyes and medicine," says Su.

Doctors will either come to Indigenous Innovations' office to visit with patients or welcome them to their practices on referral.

"The number one thing that we're looking for in our medical partners is a commitment to make a difference in the First Nations community too. Have that extra effort of compassion, for our clients who have different social circumstances," he explains.

In today's interview, Su breaks down the services the organization offers and who can benefit from them.
