Local biologist: Cutting down on driving to combat climate change

A Fraser Valley biologist believes that awareness and motivation are two key components in combating climate change and that there are adjustments that can be made in our daily lives. Dr. Carin Bondar said there are a lot of ways people can get involved to better understand their carbon footprint.

Bondar said that people should ask themselves if they really need to go somewhere using a vehicle — one positive outcome of the pandemic is that fewer people are travelling in their motor vehicles thus reducing their carbon footprint. Over the last year, not only are there fewer vehicles travelling on the roads, but there is also less marine traffic on the oceans, such as boats, Bondar added.
