Wendy Hurlburt, president and CEO of LifeSciences BC, said the COVID-19 pandemic has advanced the digital health industry.

Hurlburt said that in the past, when patients have attempted to connect virtually with healthcare providers, there have been several barriers. Now, due to in person doctor visits being reduced due to COVID-19 risks, virtual health has been an effective solution.

The digital health industry plays a vital role in connecting society with healthcare providers. Hurlburt says that there are "fantastic" applications for digital health within our society, especially when it comes to remote communities.

Hurlburt said that some challenges remain in the digital health industry such as payment, depending on which jurisdiction you are in. She also said some countries have adopted digital health tools quicker than others.
