There have been fewer calls from survivors of domestic violence during the pandemic to local non-profit Sarah For Women. The trend is a worrying sign, according to Jennifer Breakspear, executive director of the "feminist non-profit society" that provides safe refuge and resources for survivors in Mission and Abbotsford, because the dramatic call decline means women are in lockdown at home with their abusers.

The organization has launched an online campaign to educate the public on signs to determine if women and children are being abused. Social workers are also being dispatched to help women in volatile relationships Breakspear says her organization is available 24 hours a day to help any woman who feels unsafe in a relationship.
