Appalachian Corridor and Conservation des vallons de la Serpentine (CVS) have succeeded in protecting an additional 28 hectares of the Millington Bog in perpetuity.

Located in the municipality of Austin, conservation efforts in the Millington Bog date back to 2012. As a result of the most recent project, 155 hectares of the 260-hectare bog are now officially protected forever.

Executive Director of Appalachian Corridor Mélanie Lelièvre spoke with CIDI about the Millington Bog and plans for future conservation projects in the area.

The Millington Bog - described as a vast "complex of wetlands" - is identified as a priority area in the Eastern Townships due to being unique to the region. It is also home to a number of rare species and plants, and it is important for water quality and water management.
