After a long, cold, rainy, lonely two years without live music, there has been an explosion of festivals, live arts and concerts in northern BC.

One of those festivals is the return of the Midsummer Music Festival, an annual three-day celebration of music from the Bulkley Valley and beyond.

In years past, the festival curated musical acts from a multitude of genres (pop, rock, punk, country, jazz, electronic) but this year will see a return to the festival's folk roots.

Headliners include Tom Jackson, Rachelle Van Zanten and The Valley Youth Fiddlers.

Tina Daye is the president of the Bulkley Valley Folk Music Society board, and an active hands-on volunteer as well. Daye is not new to the organization, but has her hands full with the absence of returning volunteers. She attributes the volunteer drop off to COVID-19 creating a disconnect in group activities.

Listen to CICK's interview with Tina Daye in the link below for festival and ticket details as well as how to best prepare to attend this year's festival.
