Afro-Caribbean community excited over Colwood mayor’s gondola vision

Some members of the Afro-Caribbean community in Victoria were excited by Mayor of Colwood Rob Martin's announcement on Jan. 1 that there could be a gondola ride installed from the Westshore to downtown Victoria.

Martin is currently proposing that the gondola be built in the 10-acre lot behind the new Royal BC Museum gallery on Metchosin Road that is owned by the city.

The commute by road usually takes between 14-30 minutes, depending on traffic along on the 7.3 mile stretch via the Trans-Canada Highway.

CFUV spoke to a few Colwood residents about their thoughts on the venture and, overall, they seem to think the gondola will be a positive addition as a tourist attraction and method of transportation.
