The Chinatown Stewards program aims to establish a safer and more inclusive community in and around Chinatown, while providing a variety of services such as helping tourists navigate the Chinatown district and acting as liaisons between shopkeepers and those experiencing homelessness, using drugs or loitering.

The program operates out of EMBERS-Eastside Works in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. Richard Young, one of the stewards, explains the program and gives reporter John Zee a tour of the neighbourhood, where they get feedback from various businesses and DTES community members.

The conversation also includes a discussion with Stacey King, Community Success Leader, and Geoffrey Morrow, Community Connector and Administrator at EMBERS-Eastside Works. EMBERS "creates economic and employment opportunities for people living on low incomes"
