Over 325 letters demanding justice and action for Indigenous people were sent from Sackville to provincial and federal representatives yesterday. On July 1st, Shelly Colette, Erin Bardua, and Jane Dryden gathered pens and envelopes under the Bill Johnstone park gazebo so that locals could write a letter to their representatives demanding justice and action for the Indigenous people of Canada.

New Brunswick Common Front for Social Justice is working to strengthen New Brunswick workers’ rights, one MLA at a time. Their lobbying document outlines several obstacles faced by New Brunswick workers, including low minimum wage, being fired without cause, and pay inequity between people of different gender or race. Common Front’s provincial coordinator Abram Lutes says that as of right now, New Brunswick workers have only one act that protects them, and it’s not doing enough.

The Corner Drug Store vaccinated 548 people during a mass vaccination clinic yesterday. Pharmacist Charles Beaver says he gave the last dose himself at the end of the long day, which included some walk-ins. Beaver says that after those 548, the waitlist is much shorter, down to 28 days. He recommends that anyone looking for a dose, whether it be first or second, to register for the waitlist. He even suggests registering for it again if you’re still waiting for an email from them.

New Brunswick has no new cases of COVID-19 to report. The province didn’t update its social media or publish a news release since it was a national holiday, but the New Brunswick COVID-19 Dashboard was updated. There were also no recoveries, so the active case count is still hovering at 24.
