Over the past year, the Terrace Churches Food Bank has seen an increase in the amount of weekly clients from an average of 180 individuals now to 200 and they expect more as the winter holidays approach.

Paul Moravec, president of the Terrace Churches Food Bank, said that along with the increase in clients, their organization is noticing different demographics, like families sizes growing and an increased amount of newcomers and immigrants who are having to utilize their services as soon as they move to Terrace.

Last week, the food bank held their annual general meeting and Moravec talked with CFNR about the challenges they've faced since COVID-19, including the current rising costs of food, how that has affected donations and how that's increased the number of families that are accessing the food bank's services.

Despite the challenges, Moravec added that they continue to receive great support from the community and various food drives that the community puts on, and that they maintain a team of 45 regular volunteers.

Donations are accepted by the food bank in the form of dry good items, monetary donations or volunteer time. The food bank is open for a couple hours on Monday morning from 9-11 a.m. To learn more, visit their Facebook page.
