World Energy GH2’s plans for wind hydrogen development on the southwest coast has been put on hold. https://worldenergygh2.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/WEGH2-Press-Release-Crown-Land-Approval.pdf Yesterday, Environment Minister Bernard Davis said more information is needed and an amendment to the Environmental Impact Statement is necessary to inform the significance of the environmental effects. Late last week, the Environmental Transparency Committee and the FFAW held a rally in St. John’s to highlight concerns over the project. Marilyn Rowe is one of the co-administrators and chair of the local service district of Sheaves Cove. She says this is wonderful news and the Minister made a good decision. Rowe says their EIS is insufficient and lacks important data on environmental effects. She says they’ll be keeping an eye out for the next step in finding out what specific areas they are concerned about. Rowe says they would like to participate in the process.
