The Centre intégé de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais issued an update Friday, on the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Outaouais region. According to the press release, there are now 804 confirmed cases in the Outaouais region, while 77 of which are considered active. Although the region is currently seeing a slight increase in the number of cases, the CISSS de l’Outaouais specified that this increase is not due to any specific outbreak or specific location. The vast majority of active cases are in the community and no deaths related to the novel coronavirus have occurred in the last few months.
The Outaouais Public health department has also been preparing for the back-to-school period that will continue over the coming days. Close collaboration has been established between the school network and the department of public health in order to prepare for the arrival of children in school. The CISSS de l’Outaouais also stated that the Public health department is ready to face an outbreak and every effort will be made to limit the spread. They also wanted to reminded parents of the importance of children returning to school for the education and the socialization of students.
