As schools across the province begin welcoming students, the Western Quebec School Board (WQSB) is continuing to inform parents regarding the new COVID-19 prevention regulations.

According to Mike Dubeau, the Director General of the WQSB, various documents and updates were provided to parents in attempts to clarify information on the reopening. Due to a wave of parents voicing their concerns over the recent measures tabled by the Ontario Government, which as explained by Dubeau, do not reflect that of the Back to school plan in Québec.

In addition, last week, the principals, vice-principals and administrators of the WQSB met to revise and collectively understand the procedures in regards to information, social distancing, sanitation and safety for the upcoming school year.

Schools began progressively reopening today, notably in the Pontiac (Schools we were able to confirm)

  • DR S. E. McDowell’s Elementary school,
  • St-John’s Elementary school

More details on the procedures for reopening schools can be heard in the full interview with Mike Dubeau here.
