The swearing in of the 59th Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC) took place on Tuesday November 7th 2023 at the Elected Council Chambers on Chiefswood Rd.

The seating area for observers was at capacity as the new 12 member council and Chief Elect took the oath.

The 59th Elected Council increased its compliment by three additional councillors.

It’s a change that returning Councillor Greg Frazer suggested would have a positive effect for the community as he stated in an interview with CKRZ just prior to the election.

Newly elected Chief Sherri-Lyn Hill says the 59th council will have a two month transitional period, something she says that has never been done before.

Also in the audience was Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis, who said the SNEC has more women than his own council.

A media conference was scheduled with the new elected Chief on Wednesday November 8th at 10am, where in a press release it says will explain her vision and plans moving forward for the Six Nations Territory.

The swearing in ceremony and the media conference are both available to watch it on the SNEC Facebook page.
