On today's Tantramar Report:

The two men charged with the murder of Jamie Leard appeared in court Wednesday, and have each received more time to apply to legal aid for representation before setting a date for a preliminary enquiry into the charge. Sean Patterson and Henry Pottie are charged with the first degree murder of Jamie Leard on May 25 in Upper Cape, NB. Police had originally believed Leard was last seen on May 26, but have since updated their statement, saying they now believe Leard was killed on May 25.

Sackville is in the Canadian top 10 in the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge. Summer programs coordinator Carson Rafuse says the town is “happy with our progress thus far, but would love for more individuals to sign up and start tracking their minutes.”

Sackville locals placed well in New Brunswick’s Provincial Music Festival last week. Amelia Hurst took first place in Intermediate Woodwinds, and her colleague Bliss Behar took third in the same category. Tomas Sigtryggsson took first in the Junior Canadian Composer category, alongside fellow local, Elizabeth Jones, who took second. Hurst, Behar, Sigtryggsson and Jones represented the Sackville Music Festival at the event, which hosts approximately 100 young musicians from around the province.

And, Kevin Anderson of Woodpecker Tree Care is promoting another vaccination drive, this time for the region's elm trees. We tag along with the Woodpecker crew as they inoculate one of Sackville’s stately elms against Dutch Elm disease.
