Zincton Mountain Village would be located between New Denver and Kaslo 

It's turned heads for months.

A lift-accessed backcountry village slated to be located between New Denver and Kaslo in BC's southern interior has environmentalists sounding the alarm. But the proponent, David Harley, says the controversial project is about remediation of land previously tarnished by mining operations.

The project recently received a green-light from the Province to move ahead with a formal proposal.

After speaking to environmentalists who oppose the project last week, Kootenay Coop Radio spoke with Harley on March 3. He refuted the claims of those who oppose the project and said the project has strong support in the community.

"We have very strong local support," Harley said.

He also told CJLY there will be no hotels or condo's at the base of the village.

"Zincton is very much keen on being part of the solution," Harley said.
