Jennifer Wilson offers a musical theater workshop through the Youth Summer Recreational Program at Mansons Hall and, this summer, Annie is on stage.
The recreation program is heavily subsidized through provincial gaming grants, making the program accessible to local youth.
Annie is a musical set in the 1930s. The show is about a group of foster children that live in an unfortunate and challenging atmosphere with an abusive caretaker and about Annie's eventual adoption.
Devryn Moret is 10-years-old and this is her second time attending the class. This year, Devryn played "Pepper" in the performance of “Hard Knock Life” from the musical, Annie.
Wilson played the part of the evil caretaker, but her true disposition is far from such a role. Wilson had kind words to share with the audience about each individual performer, including Devryn.
“This one is destined to be a director…really creative ideas,” she said.
Devryn shared with CKTZ a bit of advice for curious future thespians.
“Try it, usually you rehearse for a long time…even if you are scared, just try it out!”
The Youth Summer Program continues to run until Aug.18. To find out more visit the Mansons Hall website.
