The Whitewater Ski Resort held a grand opening event for their new Hummingbird Lodge and campsites on Friday. This is Whitewater’s first foray into summer recreation and the beginning of their plan to become a four season resort.

The event opened with speeches from owners Andrew Kyle and Mitch Putnam, followed by comments by local MLA Brittny Anderson and Cheryl Graham of the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK). The RDCK played a major role in the success of this project by helping secure a Community Economic Recovery Infrastructure Program (CERIP) grant from the provincial government.

CJLY was at the grand opening event speaking with attendees and supporters like West Kootenay Hiking and the Friends of Pulpit Rock.
