Why two City Councilors decided to run. Ken Herar and Jag Gill, City Councilors of Mission, shared with CIVL why they decided to run. Gill says," I was growing up, and right in High School, all my friends, I think their biggest thing was I can't wait to graduate and move out of Mission. I always thought why because I love Mission. I think it was because some of the needs they had weren't being met so I said you know what, I think I could change that". Herar says," Obviously being born raised (in mission), my father was very heavily involved in the community... I learned a lot from him". He adds," I had the opportunity to meet the great mayors and other elected officials growing up as kids. They used to come to our house, we used to go to their house of all the great people who served this office... I just decided after my dad passed away in 2017, he talked about it because we've been volunteering in different boards and volunteering in general. Then, I decided maybe it was time to give it a try and see what happens."
