Each April, the National Campus and Community Radio Association asks stations to "fill the airwaves with the sensuous sounds of frogs, birds, airplanes and more!"

Listeners are immersed in the vitality of the 24-hour circadian rhythm of the ṮEḴTEḴSEN marsh in unsurrendered W̱SÁNEĆ territory (Saturna Island, British Columbia). The broadcast engages listeners in real time and promotes a powerful re-engagement with the living environment.

Climate emergencies and the ever shifting COVID pandemic continue to elevate societal anxiety, and this is a calming and holistic way to remind radio listeners about the beauty of the natural world.

Smithers Community Radio station will participate this year (as they have for the past 5 years), so mark your calendar for April 22, 2022.

In addition to the sound of Saturna Island, a regional entomologist will share local Bulkley Valley natural news on air from the Bulkley River.
