Couns. Pete Fry, Lisa Dominato and Jean Swanson all express interest in temporary quick solution before winter sets in.

Vancouver councillors Pete Fry, with the Greens, and the Non Partisan Association’s Lisa Dominato discuss the range of affordable housing solutions they propose for Vancouver's lowest-income and homeless communities, including a 'tiny townhouse' village.

One designer has even proposed such a temporary transitional housing project for the plaza beside City Hall, and Fry isn’t necessary opposed to the idea of its managed “thoughtfully.”

Meanwhile, the housing director for Portland Hotel Society says she would support any creative, effective solution to ending homelessness in Vancouver — as long as the affected people’s needs and voices are carefully listened to, or it won’t work. A range of fixes is needed urgently however, as all agree the pandemic winter setting in could spell tragedy.
