On Quadra Island,  police are seeking leads on two unsolved crimes.

One involves the theft on June 13 of more than $1,500 worth of linens—bedsheets, towels, and rags from Taku resort. As well, about $600 was lifted from a cash register in a separate area at the resort. Local RCMP spokesperson Const. Rebekah Draht says it's one of the strangest cases she's ever come across and that police are unable to determine a motive.

The other case involves vandalism at the Indigenous Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre, on July 12, where peculiar graffiti was sprayed, garbage was strewn, and a tent was left on scene. Draht says there are no clues as to motive, or whether the perpetrators are local or from off island. In these cases, Quadra Island RCMP are asking the public for clues and encourage anyone with information to call them at 250-285-3631.

As well, an alert has been issued about two men with outstanding arrest warrants who may have fled the Sunshine Coast on the BC Mainland for another area, including the Quadra and Cortes Island region. Jack Richard Chisholm, 23, and Thomas Cudmore, 33, are suspects in a "substantial number of marine thefts" on the south coast of Vancouver Island dating back to 2021. Anyone with information is asked to call Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266 or information can be relayed anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
