Two new doctors will be serving families in the Pontiac this month, through the Lotus Clinic in Shawville. The clinic’s owner, Joanne Romain, explained that the addition of Dr. Shahabi and Dr. Mira would bring the facility’s total to 11 physicians, adding that one would be starting this week, and the other on May 18.

They will be taking on so-called “orphan patients,” or those currently without a family doctor, as well as patients transferred from doctors that are retiring. In an interview last month, the head of the Pontiac Family Medicine Group, Dr. John Wootton, estimated that there were roughly 2,000 Pontiacers without a family physician.

Those not currently on the waiting list can register here.
