Two local restaurants are paying it forward this holiday season.

The Brew House on the Grand and The Breadalbane will both be serving up free meals for Christmas.

Denis Craddock, general manager of the Brew House on the Grand, said the restaurant will be handing out free take-out meals on Christmas Eve.

“There’s no need to call ahead of time, we’re just going to prepare a copious amount of turkey dinners, and some vegetarian options for those that prefer that, and first-come-first serve until we run out, but we’re running it from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the hope is that we won’t run out,” Craddock said.

Chrissy Price, pub manager at the Breadalbane, says the Eggers family is offering free full traditional turkey dinners on Christmas day.

“Since the Eggers have owned the Breadalbane, it’s been over 25 years now, they have been opened every day, 24/7, and this year is the first year they’re going to close Christmas day,” Price said. “All the staff will have the day off and the Eggers themselves will hand out the Christmas dinners.”

Price says people will need to call the restaurant at 519-843-4770 by Dec. 18 to place their reservation for their Christmas day take-out dinner.

Craddock said this is the first year his restaurant is handing out meals on Christmas Eve.

“In the wake of everything that’s happening we just saw like an outpouring of community support for us, so we thought how can we give back?” Craddock said. “But the idea going forward it to continue it as a Christmas tradition.”

Price added that the restaurant can’t thank everyone enough in the community for all their support this year.

“We would really like to give back right now, and you know, if anybody is in need please reach out, and just to thank everyone, truly thank everyone for all your support during the COVID-19 time,” Price said.
