The recreation department at Loyalist Township will be running new programs this fall, alongside some of their most popular programs.

Loyalist Township will be expanding their current list of programs to include fitness classes for residents with osteoporosis, fashion classes for youth, new cooking classes, and more.

"We're hoping to kind of broaden what we already have, and bring some new, fun ways for the community to come out and learn with us," said Recreational Programming Coordinator Susan McNeill.

Recreational programming in the township is for all-ages: currently, they have participants from pre-school age all the way up to 101. Program categories include arts, cooking, science, and sports.

The recreational department focuses on offering knowledge and skills that are useful to residents, and McNeill said there are benefits of the programming.

"These skills lead to healthy lifestyles within the community, and while in these programs, people of all ages make lasting relationships. Not only with the recreation staff, but with the other participants. So I think it's really important to come out as a community and have fun; and that's what the recreation department hopes to achieve," said McNeill.

Recreation staff strive to help all participants feel welcome, enjoy an opportunity to learn, and have fun, McNeill noted, and they are eager to engage with the community.

"We just look forward to seeing everyone in class, and creating those strong memories for everyone," said McNeill.

Registration is now open for fall sessions. Some classes may already be full upon the time of publishing, but the recreation department keeps a wait-list, and depending on demand, will pull from the wait-list to create another class. The township website has information and registration links for all current programs.
